Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in Full HD TV technology, announces a new select line of LCD TVs loaded with an array of new technologies and features that leave nothing out from action-packed movie blockbusters and fast-paced sporting events. The allure of this lineup (F8, 40”/46″) is the 100Hz MotionPLUS technology which enhances motion to eliminate blur in quickly moving pictures. Scrolling at a fast 100Hz, the F8 uses advanced algorithms in Samsung’s new 100Hz MotionPLUS processor to create a middle frame between image movements, intelligently anticipating the action and leaving the viewer with more natural and smoother images. What sets these units apart from other TVs using 100Hz technology is Samsung’s patented super clear LCD panel and Full HD 1080p technology. Put together, the F8s delivers blacker blacks and a high dynamic contrast ratio of 25,000:1, at resolutions nearly two times sharper than conventional HD TVs (resolution 1920×1080).

The new design leaves nothing to be desired either. Samsung’s new F8 lineup comes in elegantly styled glossy black units that boast soft, understated lines touched off by Samsung’s signature crystal clear glass trim, icy-blue lighting, and the uniquely sophisticated side switches.

“Putting all components of this TV together, we will cement our technological leadership further in the Full HD segment,” said Sang-heung Shin, Senior Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Division. “We are confident that consumers with their own eyes can see the difference and values delivered by our new 100Hz MotionPLUS technology”

To heighten the viewing experience, Samsung has also equipped the F8 line with its Wide Colour Enhancer, which boosts colour detail and luminance by creating a wider range of colours and makes traditionally weak greens and blues deeper and more vivid.

Besides the great pictures, gamers and movie buffs will be attracted to the deep surround sound and easy-to-use connectivity features. F8 units come with two additional built-in sub-woofers that drive more power into the lower frequencies of the 2.2 channel stereo. In addition, Samsung’s Game Mode automatically deepens rich bass of this line while also providing faster image response time to sharpen images and provide richer colours.

The F8s come with 3 conveniently located HDMI inputs that allow users to connect all their latest HD components, such as Blu-Ray Players, game consoles, and HD camcorders. In addition, the new WiselinkTM USB 2.0 feature enables handy connections with digital cameras and MP3 players.

Samsung’s New S3FS91J IC Single Wire Protocol Compliant SIM Card IC Offers Increased Data Security and Reliability

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a leader in advanced semiconductor technology, announced a new high-density 768kilobyte (KB) flash embedded SIM card IC, the S3FS91J. Fully compliant with the recent European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) standard of single wire protocol (SWP), Samsung’s new S3FS91J IC offers consumers increased personal data security and user authentication reliability with the most advanced security technology. SWP specifies a standard interface for interconnection between the SIM card chips and the near field communication (NFC) chips.

Samsung’s suite of advanced products for portable consumer applications will be on display at the Mobile World Congress 2008 in Hall 1, Booth #D33 of the Fira de Barcelona, Montjuic.

“For consumers, the ability to pay for services wirelessly is becoming more attractive as communication technology matures and security concerns have been minimized,” said Yiwan Wong, vice president, Marketing Team, System LSI Division, Semiconductor Business, Samsung Electronics. “Samsung’s new S3FS91J SWP SIM card IC, which is based on a high performance 32-bit CPU, a 20KB RAM for data processing, and a 32KB ROM for the boot loader program, introduces to consumers the very exciting experience of secure payments and services using their mobile phones.”

With on-chip support for symmetrical encryption/decryption standards (DES/ triple DES) and asymmetrical encryption standard (RSA), the S3FS91J also lends itself well to applications such as mobile TV and mobile ID where secured user authentication and data transactions are critical.

The S3FS91J’s user storage is based on embedded flash technology that allows easy wireless software upgrades and data downloads through over-the-air (OTA) technology, thus allowing mobile handset users more convenient access to a wide variety of additional services.

Samsung’s platform-based SWP SIM card chips also come with two new lower-density versions; the 420KB- (S3FS91V) and the 512KB- (S3FS91H) embedded flash memory SIM card ICs.

Market research firm ABI Research expects NFC-enabled mobile handsets with mobile payment features to reach over 300 million units, approximately 20 percent of the total mobile handset market, in 2010.

Samsung’s new SWP SIM card chips are expected to be sample available in April, with mass production scheduled for the third quarter of 2008.

LG Electronics,Introduces “Mind-reading” Interactive Phone

Spain, Mobile World Congress - LG Electronics, a worldwide technology and design leader in mobile communications, today announces the European launch of its LG KF600 – winner of the 2008 iF Product Design Award - a new mobile phone that is as feature-rich and easy to use as it is stylish, thanks to its unique InteractPad™ handset. The InteractPad™ replaces physical navigation keys with context-specific virtual keys that change to fit the task at hand. This new interface comes in response to the need for a simple way to navigate through the numerous features on today’s mobile phones.

The LG KF600’s InteractPad™ eliminates distractions with its luminous menu keys which displays the exact buttons a user needs to complete the task at hand. This is far more flexible than standard hardware features and eliminates the need to memorise exactly which key performs which function. These virtual keys are also larger and better spaced than physical keys, improving accuracy.

The InteractPad™ is an ideal interface for controlling multimedia features like the LG KF600’s digital audio player, camera and video camera. As its controls are not tied to physical buttons, each of these functions has a custom interface that makes it incredibly intuitive.

To make it even easier to navigate, the InteractPad™ is equipped with multi-sensorial feedback that provides users with audio, visual and tactile cues. When a virtual button is pressed it becomes larger and the phone vibrates slightly, whilst making a “clicking” sound. This feedback is not only designed to make these virtual buttons seem more like real ones, it also makes the phone more comfortable to use and improves accuracy.

The LG KF600 includes eight dynamic graphic interface themes that are all stylish and fun, each giving the phone a different character that can act as an extension of its owner’s personality. These themes, many of which were inspired by the work of famed artist Keith Haring, affect all aspects of the LG KF600’s interface including the InteractPad™. When users choose a theme, all the layouts of each application will be reflected in the menu and icons as well as wallpaper under the integrated theme.

The LG KF600 is far more advanced than other slider phones and is unlike any of its competitors because of its unique interface and feed-forward tactile navigation made possible by the InteractPad™.

Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company said, “The LG KF600 and the InteractPad™ reflect LG’s commitment to making its handsets easier to use through improved user interface technology. Usability is truly at the centre of this handset’s design and it represents LG’s latest achievement in making phones that connect with their users. This handset offers a mere glimpse into a newly emerging trend in the mobile market. LG is researching and developing new ways to improve usability and will continue focus on features that add practical benefits for users.”

The LG KF600’s powerful multimedia features include a 3 mega-pixel camera, MP3 player, video recording, FM radio, Bluetooth and more. Its ergonomic trapezoidal shape is the ideal complement to the phone’s sleek, glossy finish.
